In 2012, after a lay off from an energy company, she opened her own firm, offering financial accounting services to small and midsize companies in the greater Houston area. She has been in the financial accounting field her entire career, beginning as a staff accountant at a regional CPA firm and moving into Corporate Controller, for mid-size privately held companies. Julie Long is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Accounting. Her favorite quote symbolizes her commitment to achieve excellence by serving others: “Being humble is recognizing that we are not on earth to see how important we can become but to see how much difference we can make in the lives of others.” -Gordon B. She also realizes how important it is to identify all aspects of an individual’s life that impact their well-being, including their physical health, support systems (family, friends), work or school environment, and faith/spirituality in this process. Susana believes in working in partnership with clients, utilizing their strengths to help them sort out their challenges and achieve their goals. Susana is known for her high ethical standards, servant leadership and task-oriented work style. Susana’s background includes over 15 years of experience in different community settings providing services in the mental health and substance use field. Susana is a practicing LPC treating individuals and families who struggle with trauma and substance misuse. In addition, she provides direct supervision to 4 community contracts, staffed by Recovery Support Specialist including UT HEROES, Harris County Adult Probation, Responsive Intervention for Change (RIC) and Star Drug Court. She oversees the operations of the Sobering Center including a team of 37. She is Licensed in Professional Counseling (LPC) and Chemical Dependency (LCDC) and holds a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling. Susana Deltoro serves as the Director of Programs and Services for Houston Recovery Center, being part of the original team who joined the organization in its inceptions in 2013.
